SOUTH WINDSOR, CT -- Gerber Scientific, Inc. (NYSE: GRB) announced today that Stephen Lovass has been named Group Managing Director responsible for Gerber’s Spandex group of companies, effective February 1, 2005. Spandex is the largest supplier of technologies and aftermarket materials to the sign and display industries, serving markets throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Lovass was previously Group Vice President – Marketing and Product Management for Spandex, based in Brussels, Belgium. He succeeds Doris Skoch, who, as previously announced, will retire on April 30 of this year. Lovass will report to Marc T. Giles, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gerber Scientific, Inc., and will become a member of the Corporate Senior Management Team. Commenting on Lovass’ appointment, Giles said, “Stephen has demonstrated outstanding leadership and executive skills since joining the company three and a half years ago and I am delighted to announce his appointment as head of Spandex. He will work closely with Doris during the three months prior to her retirement to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of management.” Skoch also will be working closely with project teams focused on developing plans for Spandex’s business expansion in the Far East and Eastern Europe, prior to her retirement. Lovass joined Gerber in May 2001 from FMC Corporation, where he spent five years in a series of senior marketing, strategy, and business-management positions, both in the United States and internationally. He then served as Executive Director of Marketing and Product Management for Gerber Technology in Tolland, Connecticut, before joining Spandex. Lovass holds a degree in Business Commerce from the University of Melbourne in Australia, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. About Gerber Scientific, Inc. Forward-looking Statements: |
