Gerber Scientific Names Elaine A. Pullen President Of U.S. Sign Making and Specialty Graphics Business

Appointment Underscores Company's Ongoing Commitment to Product Innovation

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT –Gerber Scientific Inc. (NYSE: GRB) today announced it has appointed Elaine A. Pullen president of Gerber Scientific Products Inc., one of two companies comprising its global Sign Making and Specialty Graphics Group.

Effective August 9, Pullen will be responsible for all aspects of Gerber Scientific Products and will report directly to Gerber Scientific chairman and chief executive officer, Michael J. Cheshire.

"Elaine brings valuable experience in product development, strategic planning and general management in niche technology industries," Cheshire stated. "She is a seasoned professional with a thorough understanding of the printing industry and has a unique insight into current issues facing the digital imaging market… which is an area of tremendous growth potential for our sign making business. In addition, Elaine possesses the vision, technical skills and operational management qualities necessary to successfully lead Gerber Scientific Products. Formerly president of Trident, Brookfield, Conn., a division of ITW, Pullen worked in various executive level capacities during her seven years with that company -- completing an IPO and managing the company's acquisition by ITW. Trident is a worldwide leader and pioneer in the development, manufacture and marketing of proprietary inkjet printheads, inks and components to original equipment manufacturers. Prior to joining Trident, she spent three years with inkjet/laser imaging manufacturer, Linx Printing Technologies PLC, St. Ives, England, where she served as president of Linx USA, director of engineering, and director of business operations. She gained initial leadership experience as vice president of research and engineering at Videojet Systems International, Wood Dale, Ill., a worldwide leader in industrial marking systems, and Cambridge Consultants Ltd., Cambridge, England. Pullen started her career at Tube Investments Research Laboratories, Cambridge, England, a corporate research facility.

Pullen holds a bachelor's degree in applied physics from the British Institute of Physics, London, England. She sits on the board of directors of the Connecticut Technology Council, having served as its chairperson from May 2000 to July 2001, and is also a member of the Connecticut Governor's Council on Economic Competitiveness. In addition, she serves as a director of Fargo Electronics, Eden Prairie, Minn., and the Automated Identification Manufacturers Association, Pittsburgh, Penn. Pullen holds several patents and is a regular speaker at international conferences. She resides in Sherman, Conn.
