Gerber Scientific Announces the Appointment of Joseph R. Mele, Jr.
as Senior Vice President, Operations

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. – Gerber Scientific, Inc. (NYSE: GRB) announced today the appointment of Joseph R. Mele, Jr. as Senior Vice President, Operations, effective January 2, 2008.

Mr. Mele is currently a Partner with Lean Horizons Consulting, specializing in enterprise-level Lean implementations for Fortune 500 clients. He has 26 years experience in high technology aerospace and commercial manufacturing, including 17 years with United Technologies' Sikorsky Aircraft Division, where he played a pivotal role in Sikorsky's Lean transformation. Mr. Mele was also a partner with Accenture, where he consulted global high technology manufacturing firms in planning and execution of end-to-end business transformations. Mr. Mele holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut, an MS in Computer and Information Science from the University of New Haven and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.
